BIM DAYS STARTED AT THE UNIVERSITY

BIM days started at the University. Mr. Jose Luis Vazquez Otero, lecturer at Universidade Laboral of Spain, is at NUACA from December 15 to 21 to implement the project “Improving Educational Processes Using Digital Technologies of Building Information Modeling (BIM)” within the framework of the activities related to Building Information Modeling (BIM).

The Vice-Rector for International Relations V. Yedoyan welcomed the attendees, noting that the University submitted an application to invite a BIM expert to the grant competition announced by the Francophone University Agency in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), and today the BIM expert is already in the University. V. Yedoyan presented the BIM system, its features, as well as the necessary toolkit and processes required to implement the given system in the teaching process. He also extended special gratitude to the Head of the Francophone University Agency Mrs. Ruzanna Ghaltakhchyan for her constant support to the University. Mrs. Ghaltakhchyan, in her turn, congratulated on winning the grant, extended her gratitude to the employees who actively participated in the process of making the program a reality, as well as the attendees for their interest and participation.

Head of the Education Quality Assurance Center V. Hovhannisyan introduced the Spanish expert, Jose Luis Vazquez Otero, emphasizing that the latter took an active part in implementing the BIM program in Spain, as well as attaching importance to his experience in implementing the above-mentioned program in academic programmes. He emphasized that the professional program of the BIM system is planned to be implemented in undergraduate academic programmes, and later also in continuing education degrees.

In his speech the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs M. Barseghyan also expressed hope that the BIM program will be used in the field of research after it is implemented in the academic programmes of the University.

Jose Luis Vazquez Otero expressed his gratitude for the given opportunity and trust, presented his activities and projects implemented in the field, as well as added that BIM specialists are divided into 4 levels: coordinator, specialist, expert and manager.

The expert emphasized that he is an engineer-designer by profession, and he started studying the BIM system in order to advance his professional career. He noted that for the application of BIM, it is necessary to master not only the technologies, but also to know how to implement modeling. According to the graph introduced by the latter, the least digitized sectors are construction and agriculture, and the most digitized is the energy sector. The graph demonstrated the relationship between disciplines and specializations in terms of the measurability of BIM application, and also presented the BIM platforms that are used in different countries. The expert emphasized that BIM implementation in Spain is carried out at the governmental level.

After that, an active professional discussion took place, which will continue during the next days of the program.
