Recently, the staff of the Center for Education Quality Assurance and Development of the University visited NUACA High School and met with schoolchildren to present the higher education process being implemented at NUACA. More than 20 students from the streams of Architecture and Design participated in the Meeting. Head of the Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance Department Irina Vanyan presented the history of the establishment of NUACA, the Faculties operating under the University, the offered academic programmes, the existing and newly created laboratories furnished with modern equipment, student life, as well as information on the participation of NUACA students in domestic and foreign exhibitions, scientific and cultural forums, conferences, and competitions.
During the Meeting, an open lesson was held on the topic “Handmade Doll as an Element of Interior Design”. Ms. Vanyan presented a brief overview of the origin of the handmade doll, the directions of application of decorative dolls and their styles, as well as the possibilities of integrating decorative dolls into different styles of interior design. Using Irina Vanyan’s presented decorative dolls of different styles (ethnic, fantasy, avant-garde, stylized XVIII-XVIX centuries, eco style) and appropriate didactic materials, the schoolchildren performed practical tasks related to the theoretical material, as well as participated in a master class dedicated to creating the image of a decorative doll in an avant-garde minimal style. Using the limited materials provided (art object skeleton, colored paper, two types of glue, scissors, scotch tape), the schoolchildren, divided into small groups, completed the task set before them. The Meeting ended with a raffle of handmade dolls of various styles by Ms. Vanyan, thanks to which all participants received a decorative author’s doll.
