NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

By the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports order N 1996-A/2 dated November 30, 2021, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia was included in the list of winners of the contest for financial support for the modernization of infrastructure and material-technical base in the field of science, announced on June 18, 2021, for the purchase of a 3D concrete printer.  

An unprecedented large amount of money has been allocated for the modernization of infrastructure and material-technical base in the field of science. 15 organizations are involved in the program of basic funding of scientific and scientific–technical activities from the RA State Budget, which will be provided with a total support of 1 billion 354 million AMD for the purchase of devices and equipment submitted in 28 proposals. Both in terms of the amount of money provided and the quantity of equipment to be procured, this contest differs significantly from the previously announced contests for the modernization of infrastructure and material-technical base in the field of science.  

NUACA Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Manuk Barseghyan noted: “The availability of the device will allow having structures and buildings with complex architectural and constructive structure made of new types of composite concrete, both for civil and defense purposes. In practice, in addition to scientific research, the 3D concrete printer can also be used in the manufacturing sector. It should be noted that traditional construction is gradually giving way to the so-called “printer” construction; in this regard, it is necessary to direct the scientific research potential of NUACA to contemporary technological developments. On the other hand, such modern researches play a crucial role in training specialists and increasing the professional skills of our graduates.”  

The companies that have submitted proposals for the contest for the acquisition of devices and equipment are the ones where the given equipment will be installed. However, they can also be used by other stakeholder organizations. Shared use of devices was one of the main conditions of the contest. 

The devices and equipment will be procured not only with the means provided by the Science Committee, but according to the requirements of the contest, a part of the necessary amount of money will be provided by the co-funding organizations from the RA extra-budgetary means.
