Nasty weather and wind continuously impeding the works in the construction site, however, did not become obstacles for the construction of free economic zone important for the successful development of the country’s economy.

Over the past two months, the construction company “Horizon 95” led by the NUACA Rector, the Builders Union President and the CEO of the construction company “Horizon 95” Gagik Galstyan worked really hard for constructing “Meghri” Free Economic Zone and inaugurating it on 15 December 2017.

Those who know Gagik Galstyan also know that when it comes to the development of the country no obstacle can hinder the distinguished builder and simply the patriot of the homeland.

On December 15, the RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the RA Suren Karayan, the Minister of Agriculture Ignati Araqelyan, Regional Governor of Syunik Province Vahe Hakobyan attended the opening ceremony of the “Free Economic Zone of Meghri”. The Prime Minister toured the area, got familiar with the infrastructures and pending activities.

During the meeting with the journalists, the Prime Minister reassured that the intentions of the Government concerning free economic zones are serious, because the opportunities which will be offered by free economic free zone of Meghri,  as well as the membership of our country in the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, Iran and partnerships with the other countries create incremental prospects for the businesses to grow. Referring to the harsh conditions and high-level construction in such a short period of time, the Prime Minister acknowledged that the most important person at the construction site is definitely the builder.

Gagik Galstyan, with typical for him modesty, stressed that the works that have significant importance for our country require demanding approach and great responsibility.

It should be noted that the Free Economic Zone was created as the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. It should be built in two stages. On the first stage the infrastructure and minimum prerequisites are created in order to launch the activities of involved companies. On the second phase the expansion of the activities and infrastructures is planned, which will involve the territory of 70 additional acres in order to create proper preconditions for profitable business endeavours. About 50 acres of the above-mentioned territories will be provided to the utilizers, 10 acres of land will be envisioned for logistics and commodity storage purposes and the rest of the land will serve as a space for constructing buildings for offices and other services.

Due to the operation of the Free Economic Zone, 50 to 70 companies will be involved in the coming years by investing about $100 to $130 million and creating 1,500 new vacancies. It is projected to export goods and services worth $250 million.

At the inauguration ceremony, at the presence of the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, the first documents of the Free Economic Zone were signed.
