HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PROFESSOR!

Today is the jubilee of Professor Karen Rashidyants, PhD in Technical Sciences, Honorary Architect of the Republic of Armenia, member of the Engineering Academy of Armenia, foreign member of Russian Academy of Engineering.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Professor Rashidyants on his birthday, wishing him good health and many years of creative and fruitful life to live and create, by developing and beautifying our country with unique projects and structures. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Professor for devoting his time to future architectects- students, contributing to their education and development.

Karen Rashidyants was born on January 27, 1945. In 1963-1969 he studied at K. Marx Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. After graduating from the higher education institution in 1969-1970, Karen Rashidyants took the position of a scientific researcher in the Scientific-Research Department of the Institute. In 1970-1987 he was an Assistant at the Chair of Architecture of Civil Industrial Buildings of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute (YPI), in 1987-1999 Associate Professor at the Chair of Architectural Design and Design of Architectural Environment of the Faculty of Architecture at YPI (later on Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction), in 1987-1993 – Chief Architect of “Modul” Design Company. Since 1990 he has been a member of the Council of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at NUACA. In 1999-2016 Karen Rashidyants held the position of a Deputy Head of the Chair of Architectural Design and Design of Architectural Environment. In 2004 he was awarded the academic rank of a professor, in 2006-2014 he was a member of NUACA Scientific Council and Governing Council, and since 2014, a member of NUACA Board of Trustees. Since 2016, he has been the Head of the Chair of Architectural Design and Design of Architectural Environment. Since 2016, he has been a member of Urban Development Council of Municipality of Yerevan, a member of the “Architecture and Construction” 030 (in the field of Architecture) professional council.

He has authored more than 50 scientific articles, works and teaching-methodological manuals. The scope of scientific activity encompasses 58 architectural projects (44 of which have been implemented).

On the occasion of NUACA 95th anniversary, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Rashidyants was awarded the “Movses Khorenatsi” medal. He was awarded Yerevan Mayor’s Gold Medal and NUACA Gold Medal. He holds numerous Diplomas (in 1989 – by the Armenian Union of Architects and Architectural Committee for residential area planning and development, in 1995-1997 by the Association of Architectural Schools for supervising thesis papers, by the Armenian Union of Architects for participating in an exhibition, dedicated to the World Architecture Day, in 2003 by the RA National Museum-Institute of Architecture for participating in the international touring exhibition of the International Union of Architects, in 2004 by the RA Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs for participating in the first “One Nation, One Culture” Pan-Armenian Cultural Festival by the Armenian Union of Architects, in 2005-2010 by the Armenian Union of Architects for his immense contribution to the development of architecture and his impeccable work).
