Recently, an informative meeting with the Head of the Regional Office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Gebhard Reul and the Coordinator of Scholarships and Study Programmes in Armenia Arevik Harutyunyan has been held at the University. University lecturers and undergraduate students of 1-4 years of 5 faculties participated in the Meeting.
The DAAD Regional Office is located in Tbilisi and is also responsible for Armenia.
During the Meeting, detailed information on the scholarship programmes for studying and conducting research at graduate programmes in German universities, the procedure for applying to them, the target groups, the launch of the programme and application deadlines was presented. Gebhard Reul noted that in terms of interest in learning, Germany ranks 4th in the world, which is related to the high level and availability of education. About 80% of universities in Germany are state-funded.
Arevik Harutyunyan presented the scholarship programmes provided by DAAD, the package and format of the necessary documents for applying and the stages of selection. When applying, the student has the opportunity to choose 3 to 5 universities. The selection is held each year in August-September and the best students are selected. The mode of admission depends on the admission requirement of the chosen university. Special attention was paid to programmes in the specialty “Architecture”. Non-professional summer schools are also implemented under the DAAD programmes.
At the end of the Meeting, active discussions took place, the attendees addressed questions they were interested in to the representatives of the Office and received information brochures to familiarize themselves with the offered programmes in more detail.
