Schoolchildren of High School after Manuk Abeghyan of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia participated in the award ceremony of the Annual Science Olympiad of the Association of Armenian Scientists and Engineers of America (AESA).
The Science Olympiad was held online, and all participants were present at the award ceremony. The main goal of the Olympiad was to stimulate interest in science among schoolchildren.
The Annual Science Olympiad is an academic competition for students in grades 6-8 in secondary school and grades 10-12 in high school covering the fields of Physics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, and Chemistry.
NUACA High School presented 2 different groups of girls and boys. The boys’ team, Areg Mosikyan, Hayk Hyusisyan, Davit Vardanyan, took the 3rd place in the Engineering category. Schoolchildren have presented a project to create a hydrogen engine that will be able to reduce the amount of emissions in order to cause as little damage to nature as possible.
The boys’ team was awarded with a certificate of appreciation, a medal and a monetary prize, which they would like to invest in education to develop their knowledge and skills in the field.
The girls’ team – Sofi Babayan, Gayane Zhamkochyan, Lilya Azizyan, presented the “Use of Polyethylene Waste in Asphalt” project and was awarded with the title of honorable participant in the Physics category.
Before participating in the Olympiad, in addition to the support of the school teachers, the students were also supported in the preparatory work by NUACA academic staff, various experiments were performed in the University laboratories, and discussions were held in order to present the best.
