Today is the birthday of the great architect Jim Torosyan who made a huge and invaluable contribution to the creation of the image of our Yerevan.
From 1971-1981, being the chief architect of Yerevan, he created constructions that are the ornament and visit card of Yerevan until today.
The former building of Yerevan City Hall, the “Republic Square” Metro station with overground and underground structures, the statues of M. Nalbandyan, Al. Myasnikyan, E. Charents, V. Hambardzumyan, Av. Isahakyan, V. Saroyan’s Monument, M. Saryan, P. Sevak Tombstones, the current municipality building with the Museum of History of Yerevan, the central square complex of Spitak city, the entrance and outdoor altar of St. Etchmiatsin, the SRI of Cardiology and other constructions are the results of the Great Architect’s Thoughts.
Jim Torosyan was born and died in Yerevan. (April 18. 1926 – January 5. 2014).
