The “Re-framing Road Safety in Armenia” program was summarized at National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.
Dean of NUACA Faculty of Urban Economy and Ecology, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Valerik Harutyunyan presented the research conducted within the framework of the Program on road traffic accidents on interstate highways and road networks of Yerevan. Since the observation and monitoring of interstate highways research has already been carried out, the presentation of the detection of black spots on highway streets of Yerevan, the performed analysis and proposals for measures on 2019-2023 have been left. As a result, it was necessary to submit a report including Yerevan road network, description, characteristics and parameters. Within the framework of the Program, traffic problems and road traffic accidents in Yerevan were also studied, road traffic accidents were analyzed, dangerous areas were identified, as a result, proposals for measures to increase traffic safety were presented, as well as the patterns of road traffic accidents in the city were identified.
At the end of the meeting, the prospects for the development of Yerevan road network were also presented, and as a conclusion, general measures needed to improve traffic safety were noted. Representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Road Department, Patrol Service, Yerevan Municipality, Nairi community, Armenian National Agrarian University and NUACA Chair of Construction Machinery and Traffic Management were present at the Meeting.
