University with a 100-Year History

THE RA URBAN DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE AWARDED THE UNIVERSITY STAFF WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIVERSITY

Within the framework of the 100th anniversary of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, the RA Urban Development Committee organized an exhibition at National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan on December 23, after which an award ceremony was held.

At the invitation of the Chairman of Urban Development Committee Armen Ghularyan and NUACA Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan, the event was attended by Gnel Sanosyan, the RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Christine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Karen Trchounian, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Suren Tovmasyan, Head of the Cadastre Committee, Mkrtich Minasyan, President of the Chamber of Architects of Armenia, Gagik Galstyan, President of the Union of Builders of the Republic of Armenia, as well as Vice-Rectors, representatives of the academic staff and students, renowned architects and builders.

Welcoming the guests, Mark Grigoryan, Director of the Museum-Institute gave the floor to Armen Ghularyan, Chairman of the Committee, who extended his warmest congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the University, specifically emphasizing the invaluable importance of the University in the development of the new period of Armenian architecture, preservation of traditions, as well as the enormous contribution of prominent architects and builders in the development of the field of urban planning. He wished the academic staff and students to always be the leaders and bearers of new advances in Armenian architecture and construction.

Afterwards, NUACA Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan made a speech, congratulating the University staff, students and graduates, and presented the University establishment and development stages, achievements, successes on international platforms and tasks to be implemented in the near future. In his speech, the Rector expressed his gratitude to all the guests for attending, remembering and congratulating the University on its 100th anniversary, extending special thanks to the Urban Development Committee for organizing the beautiful event and noted that the solemn events on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the University will be held at the beginning of the upcoming year.

Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, extended his congratulations, emphasizing the importance of the role of the University in a number of areas under his agency, calling the University Alma Mater, and once again highlighting the important role of the University staff and graduates in the fields of road construction, dam construction and energy. 

Extending his congratulations to the Rector, staff and students of the University on its 100 years of history and established traditions, Karen Trchounian, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports attached great importance to the architecture and construction academic programmes and wished the University new achievements.

Head of the Cadastre Committee Suren Tovmasyan warmly congratulated the 100th anniversary, remembering that his connection with the University began during his student years, noting that he continues teaching at the University till now.

 Mkrtich Minasyan, President of the Chamber of Architects of Armenia, Gagik Galstyan, President of the Union of Builders of the Republic of Armenia and Honorary Architect Hrachya Poghosyan also delivered congratulatory speeches.

Afterwards, the award ceremony was held.

For their contribution to the field of urban development and for years of experience, the awardees of the Gold Medal for “Substantial Contribution to Urban Development” are:  

Eduard Yeprem Khachiyan, Academician of NAS RA, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, NUACA Head of the Chair of Construction Mechanics;

Yeghiazar Vahram Vardanyan, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Rector of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

For their contribution to the development of the field of Architecture and the education system, “Trdat Architect” Gold Medal was awarded to:

Garnik Arayik Stepanyan, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia;

Armenak Martun Grigoryan, Architect, Lecturer of the Chair of Architectural Design and Design of Architectural Environment of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

For their significant contribution to the development of the education system of architecture and construction, “Momik Architect” Gold Medal was awarded to:

Vardges Hayk Yedoyan, Associate Professor, Vice-Rector for International Relations of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia;

Gagik Shahen Hovhannisyan, Architect, Head of the Chair of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

Apart from medals, NUACA staff members Armine Ghulyan, Avetik Arzumanyan, Marine Kalantaryan, Nelli Muradyan, Madlena Igitkhanyan, Tatevik Paytyan, Tamara Sargsyan, Vrezh Tamazyan, Gohar Isakhanyan, Armen Harutyunyan, Yakov Aghbalyan were awarded with Certificates of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

Academician Eduard Khachiyan, extending his congratulations to the attendees, on behalf of all the awardees, thanked for the awards handed and for the high appreciation of their work, emphasizing the constant support of state and non-governmental organizations to the University.

It should be noted that the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the University are ongoing and will be summed up at the beginning of 2022.
