THE FIRST SESSION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WAS HELD

The first session of the Board of Trustees of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA), approved by the decision of the RA Prime Minister, was held on January 14, 2022. The issue of electing the Chairman and Secretary of the University Board of Trustees was on the agenda. Armen Ghularyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee, was elected the Chairman of the Board of Trustees by unanimous vote, and Khachatur Khachatryan, PhD applicant, was elected the Secretary.

“This University is my alma mater, which has century-old invaluable traditions. It is a great responsibility to work with the University’s outstanding scientists, lecturers and, of course, our dear students. I am confident that our Board will also succeed and will continue to preserve and enhance the beautiful traditions of the University. I would like to extend a special gratitude to all the members of the former Board, represented by the Chairman Vlad Asatryan, and I replace him in this honorable position with a great responsibility,” said Armen Ghularyan, the Chairman-elect of the Board of Trustees, expressing his deepest gratitude for the trust.

Extending his congratulations to Armen Ghularyan, NUACA Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan assured that further collaborations with the Chairman, Secretary and all the members of the Board of Trustees will contribute to the development and progress of the University. He attached importance to active cooperation between the Urban Development Committee and the University both for the development of the University and the sector in general. At the same time, Rector Y. Vardanyan highly appreciated the joint cooperation of the former Board of Trustees and expressed his gratitude to Vlad Asatryan, the former Chairman of the Board, Council Chairman of “Kamurjshin” CJSC, for the efforts made in recent years and his contribution to the development of the University.

“I extend my congratulations to you, Mr. Ghularyan, for being elected the Chairman of the University Board of Trustees. As before, I will carry on contributing to the development and prosperity of our University already as a member of the Board of Trustees in close cooperation with you. I call upon all the members of the Board, the practical architects and constructors, in particular, to extend their support in every possible way and to invest the gained experience in the paramount task of preparing qualified specialists of the field. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the University, the students and, of course, Rector Y. Vardanyan for the fruitful joint cooperation,” stated Vlad Asatryan, concluding his appreciation speech.

Immediately after the election of the Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, a second session was convened at the suggestion of the Board members. After approving the session agenda, the Rector presented the 2021 Annual Report and the 2021 Budget Performance Report, noting that the 2021 Budget was exceeded by about 318 million AMD, while the proposed 2022 Budget Draft has a positive increase of about 694 million AMD compared to 2021. Mr. Y. Vardanyan presented the indicators of the University international ranking, which were quite satisfactory, given the fact that the University was being internationally ranked for the first time. The achievements in the field of science were presented, in particular, the significant increase in victories in scientific grants during 2021. Afterwards, priorities of the University for 2022 were introduced. This year a special attention will be paid to the updating of curricula and syllabi, to the involvement of foreign students due to the international cooperation achieved in 2021, and to all the issues directly aimed at improving the quality of education.

The Board of Trustees highly appreciated the annual activities carried out by the University. Special attention was paid to the social programs for students and staff. The 2022 Budget and all the submitted programs were approved.
