University with a 100-Year History
Albert Margaryan, Professor at the Chair of Water Systems, Hydraulic Engineering and Hydropower, was awarded with NUACA Gold Medal by the decision of Scientific Council on the occasion of his 85th birthday, for many years of fruitful educational and pedagogical activity at the University, as well as for his contribution to the preparation of engineering specialists. Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan handed over the Gold Medal to the professor at the official Session of Rectorate. In his speech, the Rector stated that, first of all, he would like not to congratulate, but to extend his gratitude to the professor for his fruitful scientific, educational and pedagogical activity, and added, “You are considered one of the cornerstones of our University and it is a great honour and pleasure to see your daily work at the University.”
Professor Albert Margaryan has written more than 100 scientific papers, including 12 inventions during his many years of activity. He has authored the “Hydraulic Shock and Pipelines Protection” monograph, 1 textbook and 1 manual for irrigation system operating personnel, as well as many methodical works.
Albert Margaryan has been awarded with state awards, including the Honourary certificate of the Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria of the USSR, Gold Medal of the RA Scientific Committee, Medal of Anania Shirakatsi of NKR President and NUACA Gold Medal. The professor’s research activities are mainly aimed at the study of the non-stationary movement of droplet liquid in the pressure system, in particular, the hydraulic shock and the development of pipelines protection measures.
The original booster valve was built and a biogas plant was designed and built at the Lusakert Poultry Factory according to the Professor’s project. He has also been the author of a new methodology for the standardization of fountain wells hydrometry, the head of the design and installation group of hydrometric nodes, the head of the design and construction of two-blade hydroturbine, the head of the design of Elegis-7 Small HPPs. He has also taken part in many programs and carried out various scientific-research activities.
Along with his scientific activities, Albert Margaryan, as a lecturer, engineer and Head of the Chair, passed his experience and knowledge to the new generation, contributing to their education and development.
