NUACA VICE-RECTOR ARKADI BARKHUDARYAN HAS PASSED AWAY

The technical science of Armenia suffered a heavy loss. Well-known scientist, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, experienced organizer of the educational process, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Arkadi Misak Barkhudaryan has passed away.

He devoted his whole conscious life to his native University, having a great contribution to its development, to the methods of teaching and methodological work, to the promotion and implementation of the best educational experience. And it is not accidental that today NUACA has become one of the leading universities not only in our Republic, but also among similar universities.

Professor Arkadi Barkhudaryan was born in 1940 in Goris, Syunik Province. After leaving school, he studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, received the state qualification of a civil engineer, and then he continued his postgraduate studies at the same University. A. Barkhudaryan is the author of 2 textbooks, 85 scientific works and 17 certificates of authorship.

He started his career as a postgraduate student at the Chair of Materials Resistance of YPI, , and in 1984 he was appointed Head of the Chair of Hydraulics.

When the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia was established, the well-known scientist moved to NUACA, where he was appointed Head of the Chair of Hydraulics, and in 1990, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

In 1985, the honourable professor was awarded the State Prize of the Armenian SSR, and in 2012, the title of Honored Scientist of the Republic of Armenia.

A. M. Barkhudaryan’s bright memory will remain forever in the hearts of his relatives, friends, students, NUACA entire staff, as well as in the hearts of specialists in the field.

The memorial service will take place on November 3 at 6:00 PM at St. Hovhannes Church in Kond, and the Funeral will take place at Shahumyan Cemetery.
