NUACA IS CELEBRATING TYARNENDARAJ

On the evening of February 13, when according to the church calendar, the day changes after the evening service, the Feast of Tyarnendaraj begins. The holiday symbolizes the presentation of the Forty-Day-Old Baby Jesus to the Temple. On the eve of Tyarnendaraj, after the evening service, the Andastan ceremony is performed; the blessing of four corners, fields and gardens of the world which heralds the end of winter and the arrival of spring. Afterwards, bonfires are lit in the backyards of the churches with the blessed fire taken from the light fixtures of the churches, which symbolizes the light of God.

As every year, this year as well, the Student Council organized an event for the University staff and students. In the backyard of the University, students lit the fire, danced around it, and then jumped over the fire. The Student Council also organized a catering of “traditional” dishes, symbolizing the holiday, which were prepared by the students.
