NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA
University with a 100-Year History
Pursuing the implementation of the strategic goals, from now on, lecturers’ training courses will be regularly organized at NUACA for the purpose of capacity building and modernization of academic programmes.
Currently, the “GeoStudio” (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, QUAKE/W and SIGMA/W) training course for lecturers is being implemented at the University.
Upon completion of the course, it is envisaged to introduce the software applications of “GeoStudio” into NUACA academic programmes and to teach the students through them.
Within the framework of the course SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, QUAKE/W and SIGMA/W sub-programs of GeoStudio will be presented, which work together in a shared link and provide solutions to geotechnical problems frequently encountered in civil, hydraulic and mining industries. Particularly, sub-programs solve the following practical engineering problems:
SLOPE/W – geomechanical substantiation of the stability of natural and man-made earth slopes in complex mining and geological conditions, based on well-known block theories,
SEEP/W – filtration calculations of hydrotechnical structures in functionally dependent complex boundary conditions based on finite element theory according to static equilibrium and linear/exponential transition analyses,
SIGMA/W – static and modern dependent mathematical modeling of the stress-strain field of civil, hydraulic and geotechnical structures based on finite element theory,
QUAKE/W – modern mathematical modeling of the effect of dependent cyclic loading based on finite element theory.
