NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

Today, on March 16, according to tradition, it was crowded at the Komitas Pantheon near the statue of Alexander Tamanyan. They remembered and glorified the great architect and congratulated his birthday.

The Chief Architect of Yerevan Artur Meschian, President of the Union of Architects of Armenia Mkrtich Minasyan, the Acting President of the Urban development Committee Armen Ghularyan, and the delegation from the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia Rector Gagik Galstyan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Sargis Tovmasyan, lecturers and students were also there.

First, having laid flowers in the pantheon, the attendees remembered Tamanyan’s past, his diligent work activity which give breath and soul to Yerevan. Then they moved to the Cascade, where the Rector Galstyan, speaking of Tamanyan’s art, pointed to the magnificent composition of the Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre, it seems that  each stone speaks, sings and tells a story.

Then again, memories, words of gratitude and honor about Alexander Tamanyan: who is always present in eternity.

It should be noted that the founder of Armenian new architecture Tamanyan is the author of the master plan of Yerevan reconstruction and development, according to which Yerevan was a city-park with 150,000 inhabitants, built 3-4 storey buildings and divided into separate zones.
