Corruption is the abuse of official powers for personal gain. It is distinguished between “by the rules” and “against the rules”. Bribery is one of the types of corruption. In the first case, a bribe is given in order to receive a more favourable treatment, for something that the recipient of the bribe is obliged to do according to the law. In the second case, the bribe is given for a service that the recipient of the bribe has no right to render. Around the world, corruption affects people’s lives in many ways. In the worst-case scenario, corruption threatens people’s lives. Some people only work when there is the lure of an extra “payoff”. In any case, big and small corruption makes life more difficult and endangers human life.

Because of its hidden nature, it is difficult to detect. Therefore, the University urges you to fight against corruption, and if you notice it, speak up about it by contacting the Dean’s office of the relevant faculty or the Rectorate.
