FROM THE STUDENTS TO A SPECIALIST: THE PROBLEM IS DISCUSSED BY THE STUDENTS THEMSELVES

The National Center for the Specialized Education Quality Assurance and the Armenian-Russian University hosted a workshop for students, young lecturers and career centers. A delegation from the NUACA also attended the gathering. How well does the university education correspond to the labor market demand? Does the knowledge offered by a university promote the professional development of the specialists? What are the employers’ expectations from educational institutions? What should look like  the collaboration between the university and the employer? These issues were discussed by students, young lecturers and representatives of the university career centers during the workshop.

ANQA Director Ruben TOPCHYAN, the RA Deputy Minister of Education Vahram MKRTCHYAN  and the Rector of Armenian-Russian University Armen DARBINYAN attended the workshop.

During the discussion on “Student Assessment Improvement via Employers’ Participation,” employers pointed out that besides knowledge, they also focus on the analytic skills of their potential employees, the ability to work in teams, the ability to accommodate and integrate themselves into the working environments, etc. The ANQA developed model of the University-Employer Cooperation and the results of its testing at YSLU were also presented.

Meanwhile, on April 16-17 a conference will be organized entitled  “Education and the Specialist: Vocational Education Today and Tomorrow “, where the issue of the qualifications’ recognition will be widely discussed by the representatives of universities and colleges, local and international education quality assurance professionals.
