NUACA STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE WORKSHOP HELD IN SPAIN

NUACA lecturers and students were sent to A Coruña city in Spain, where they participated in the international student workshop. The workshop was implemented within the framework of the Jacobus+2024 academic programme. About 70 students from Belgium, France, Spain and Armenia attended the international workshop. From Armenia, 8 NUACA students from 4th year undergraduate studies and 1st and 2nd year graduate studies participated in the workshop.

The student theme this year was a monument building in the tourist town of Ponte Vedra. In the center of the historic old town there is a palace that has its owner and is now in a “bad” condition, distorting the overall appearance of the town. The building does not have any important function, but it is a very significant monument. The owner is inclined to turn the building into a hotel, and the city authorities want to make it a beautiful public monument for local residents and tourists.

This year’s management staff, the Spanish team, had sent all the participants the necessary drawings, information, archival materials in advance, and for about a month all the students had prepared preliminary research. NUACA students prepared and presented 4 thematic preliminary research which received great appreciation. During the Project, the students studied the area and performed team work, and the teams included representatives from each participating country.

The students’ results  surprised the project managers and architects, because in such a short period of time, the students prepared interesting and very different proposals and even managed to make scale models.

NUACA participants were very pleased and flattered by such special treatment of the management staff of the University of  A Coruña.

All the students participating in the workshop are now required to carry out project work in their country under the supervision of the corresponding lecturer, and the project defenses are scheduled to take place in Belgium, on May 30.
