From June 4 to 27, NUACA students Luiza Mkrtchyan and Armine Hakobyan participated in the WorldSkills Guangzhou International Exchange Competition training programme held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, proudly representing both the University and Armenia on the international professional stage.
Within the framework of the programme, the students were primarily hosted by Guangzhou Communications Technician Institute, where they took part in professional training sessions, workshops, experience-sharing activities, and practical learning programmes. These enabled them to become familiar with innovative academic approaches, digital technologies, and modern industry solutions implemented in China.
During the international programme, the students also visited several leading industrial and academic organizations. In particular, at the XPENG automobile manufacturing plant, they learned about the design, production, and automated assembly processes of electric vehicles, gaining first-hand insight into the organization of high-tech manufacturing.
At the invitation of the President of the host institution, the students also visited a specialized higher education institution in Changsha, China, recognized for its academic programmes in film production, game development, and media production. During the visit, they explored the educational process, applied technologies, student projects, and the institution’s creative learning environment.
Alongside the professional programmes, the students had the opportunity to discover China’s rich historical and cultural heritage by visiting numerous landmarks, further promoting intercultural communication, international experience, and international cooperation.
Following the completion of the training program, the organizers invited NUACA representatives to participate in the WorldSkills Guangzhou International Exchange Competition as a Competitor and an Expert. After discussions, it was decided that Luiza Mkrtchyan would compete as a participant, while Armine Hakobyan would serve as an Expert.
As an Expert, Armine Hakobyan participated in reviewing the technical requirements of the competition tasks, organizing the assessment process, analyzing the competition entries, and evaluating the participants, thereby ensuring transparency and maintaining high professional standards throughout the competition.
It is noteworthy that the decision to participate in the competition was made within a very short period, and Luiza Mkrtchyan had not previously undergone specialized training in this competition skill. An intensive three-day preparation programme was conducted prior to the competition to familiarize her with the competition format and technical requirements as efficiently as possible.
The successful completion of all competition tasks resulted in an outstanding achievement. Luiza Mkrtchyan won the Gold Medal and took first place in the “Digital Interactive Media Design” skill competition. Given the exceptionally short preparation period, this victory is particularly significant, demonstrating her professional competence, ability to learn quickly, adapt to a new environment, and effectively apply her knowledge in practice.
The experience, professional knowledge, and collaborative partnerships established through the international programme will make a valuable contribution to the students’ future professional development, as well as to the dissemination of international best practices and knowledge sharing throughout the University.
