A professional seminar dedicated to the activities of NUACA and the student department of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) was held at National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia. The seminar was conducted by invited lecturer Armen Martirosyan, who currently is teaching the subject “Reconstruction of Buildings and Structures” at the University.
During the seminar, the structure, mission and global impact of ACI were presented, emphasizing the key role of technical committees and their international significance in the process of developing standards for the design and seismic rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures. Particular attention was paid to the activities of the ACI 369 (seismic rehabilitation) and ACI 440 (FRP strengthening) committees, as well as their relationship with the ASCE 4123 standard, which gave students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the field of modern seismic assessment and rehabilitation methodologies.
The seminar was organized at the initiative of Doctor Tigran Dadayan, who is the Faculty Advisor of NUACA ACI Student Department and the Head of the Chair of Building Structures. In his speech, Mr. Dadayan emphasized the importance of students’ active involvement in international professional communities, as well as their familiarization with global standards and wide opportunities for cooperation.
The participants were informed about the opportunities to participate in ACI committee meetings as observers, to join in online and hybrid formats, as well as to establish professional connections through ACI conferences, publications, and academic programmes.
The seminar became an important platform for exchanging experiences, expanding knowledge, and promoting international cooperation, taking another step forward in the development of partnership relations between NUACA and ACI and the modernization of engineering education.
