Today, a scientific-practical workshop entitled “Approaches to the Management of UNESCO World Heritage Sites” launched at National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.
The aim of the Workshop is to analyze and present successful examples of management of large-scale World Heritage Sites, identify common issues and develop effective approaches to conservation. The discussions are also aimed at supporting actions related to the nomination of Tatev Monastery and Vorotan Gorge to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
NUACA representatives and representative of the 301 Foundation Nune Alekyan delivered welcome speeches. Representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the RA MօESCS, Syunik Marzpetaran, as well as the Amaryan Foundation delivered opening speeches.
Narine Tyutcheva (ICOMOS CIVVIH, IAA Professor, Director of RE-School), Khachik Harutyunyan (Director of Scientific Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage), Antoine Bruggerol (Vice President of ICOMOS France), Yves Dauge (President of the Association of French World Heritage Sites), Pierre-Marie Tricaud (Landscape Architect, ICOMOS France), Céline Tastet (Réseau des Grands Sites de France), Catherine Madoni (Vice President of ICOMOS France) delivered main reports of the Workshop.
During the Workshop, reference was made to tools for the management of historical landscapes, international experience in the protection of symbolic areas, public-private partnership and the development of sustainable approaches in the context of heritage management.
The Event was concluded with open discussions with the participants.
