STUDENTS VISITED SYUNIK MARZ WITH THE MINISTER OF MTAI AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the Urban Development Committee, and National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia jointly organized a study visit to Syunik Marz for NUACA students and several other Armenian universities to get acquainted with the process of large-scale infrastructure projects being implemented in the region.

The students, accompanied by the Minister of MTAI Davit Khudatyan, the Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Yeghiazar Vardanyan, the Governor of Syunik Marz Robert Ghukasyan, and the Rector of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia Manuk Barseghyan, first visited the construction site of the southern section of the “North-South” project. They visited the already dug tunnels of the 32 km section of the Kajaran-Agarak section and observed the construction work of about two dozen bridges.

The Minister and the Chairman of the Committee showed the students, future builders and architects, the scale of the work being carried out on site, at the actual largest construction site in Armenia, told about the technologies used and other programmes aimed at the development of infrastructure, and answered professional questions of interest to the students.

On the second day of the visit, the students participated in a rose planting in the city of Goris. An entire hill in Goris will soon be decorated with roses and will be called the “Rose Hill”.

The students’ next stop was the secondary school in the village of Harzhis, which was built with state budget funds under the coordination of the Urban Development Committee. The school is designed for 100 children and also includes a preschool. In addition to classrooms, there are laboratory rooms, a library, a first-aid post, and strategy rooms. The school has a gymnasium, a banquet hall, a shelter, an open football field with artificial grass, and a greenhouse. It is equipped with heating and ventilation systems, a solar photovoltaic station, and a separate substation with a capacity of 400 kVA has been installed.

Yeghiazar Vardanyan reported that, taking into account the opinions of students and teachers of already built schools and new technological capabilities, the projects have been improved in the schools being built next.

One of the steps contributing to increasing the quality of activities in the field will be the rating of licensed organizations, which will be carried out according to clear criteria and in an automated manner. An opportunity to raise the quality of construction to a new level will also be created by introducing a digital platform for technical control. “We are taking clear steps towards the digitalization of the urban development field. Simplification, clarification, and regulation of urban development procedures are also a priority,” the Chairman of the Urban Development Committee reported.

Both David Khudatyan and Yeghiazar Vardanyan emphasized that specialists in the field of Urban Development are in high demand today. Taking into account the numerous programmes of the Government in this field, at the end of the visit, the participating students were presented with the opportunities to work in MTAI and the Committee.

They noted that the doors of the Ministry and the Committee are open to students, and expressed hope that after the end of the visit there will be students and graduates who will express a desire to work in the Ministry and the Committee, to become part of all the infrastructure programmes that are being implemented in Armenia today.

NUACA Rector Manuk Barseghyan emphasized the importance of organizing a visit for future specialists in the field, through which they witness practical construction work and acquire professional knowledge on the spot.
