THE FIRST STEP OF ARMENIAN-GERMAN COOPERATION

“Stones in the heritage of Armenian architecture” with the support of the ”Volkswagen” Foundation, has become a basis for the 3 years of research works between Georg Augustine University in Gottingen, Germany and National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

From April 23 to May 12 the researcher at Georg August University Vanya Vedekind and associate professor of NUACA Emma Harutyunyan with the  heads of professional laboratories Marina Bunatyan, Artavazd Arzumanyan, Nikolay Chilingaryan, as well as Hasmik Gevorgyan, head of the ”Horizon 95” LLC Building Materials Laboratory and with the participation of a group of students, implemented research works in some ruined sections of Geghard, Zvartnots and Avan temples.

Today, our University has summarized the results of three weeks’ work; the results of various researches and lab tests on stony parts and joints, which, by the way, have been implemented in NUACA specialized laboratories and also participants received certificates.

Welcoming the participants and guests, Rector Gagik Galstya noted that such events not only increase the interest of foreigners in the Armenian architectural heritage, but also contribute to the more effective cooperation in the professional sphere.

It should be noted that the “Stones in the heritage of Armenian architecture” program aims to promote the training and qualification of the restorative architects and related professionals, as well as the practical implementation of cultural heritage preservation, preventing the destruction of stones and solving the preservation problems. This program will enable Armenian specialists to continue their research in Germany.
