The final conference of the three-year project “Transforming Graduate Education for Green and Sustainable Future” (Erasmus+ T-GREEN) funded by the European Union was held in Yerevan, summarizing the work carried out within the framework of the project and the important results recorded in the field of higher education.
The project aimed to contribute to the reform of higher education in Armenia by encouraging the transition from traditional curricula to future-oriented, green and interdisciplinary academic programmes. The project also aimed to improve the quality of education, expand international cooperation and promote student mobility, ensuring a competitive and modern academic environment.
The representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Susana Martins, delivered a speech at the official opening of the final conference of the project. She welcomed all participants of the Conference and emphasized the importance of the project for the development of the academic system. She extended congratulations to everyone on the successful completion of the Project, noting that there were many difficulties during the implementation of the Project, and today they can happily state that they have successfully reached this important stage, when there are visible results and new development opportunities have been formed.
Rector of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia Manuk Barseghyan also delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in the modernization of higher education. He noted that thanks to the joint work of European and Armenian partner universities, new graduate programmes have been developed and are already being implemented, which provide modern education in accordance with international standards. These programmes aim to prepare specialists who can effectively respond to environmental, technological and economic challenges, becoming knowledgeable and responsible leaders in their fields.
Within the framework of the Conference, representatives of EU partner universities visited National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Yerevan State University, and the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, where they got acquainted with the Faculties, modern laboratories, and innovation centers of these universities. Meetings were organized with student groups and representatives of the academic community, as well as presentations of green and sustainable solutions implemented within the framework of the project.
During the event, reports of the work package leaders were also presented, which included capacity building initiatives, development of national documents for sustainable development of education, project quality assurance and monitoring, as well as dissemination, exploitation and awareness raising of project results, etc. The overall management of the project was carried out by National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia. Eurasia International University was the project management co-coordinator.
The conference was also attended by Ani Virabyan, Head of the Department for Higher Education and Science Policy of the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Nune Petrosyan, Deputy Chairman of the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Rectors and representatives of partner universities, as well as representatives of Armenian institutions and international partner universities, including representatives of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance headed by the Director, representatives of the Erasmus Student Network and Bridge of Hope NGOs, representatives of the Catholic University of Portugal, Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), and Jagiellonian University (Poland).
The Conference became an effective platform to present the results achieved within the framework of the project, strengthen international cooperation and outline the ways for the further development of higher education. The project made a significant contribution to the formation of modern, green and sustainable master’s education in Armenia, contributing to the preparation of a new generation of specialists capable of facing the challenges of the future.
