RAZMIK PETEVOTYAN HAS PASSED AWAY

Razmik Artavazd Petevotyan

The prominent scientist in the technical field of the Republic of Armenia and the outstanding pedagogue, Razmik Artavazd Petevotyan has passed away. Due to his unique character of a researcher, he stood out for the great practical importance of his works aimed at improving the technical condition of water supply and drainage systems in Armenian settlements and bringing them in line with international standards.

R. Petevotyan was especially prominent in the field of education. Holding the position of the Head of the Chair at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, after that, being the Dean of the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering Construction for many years, he devoted himself to the sacred duty of educating and bringing up the generations for about 50 years. In 1980-85, he worked in the University of Annaba, Algeria, teaching Hydraulics, Water Supply and Drainage. In recent years, with the reputation of a distinguished professor, R. Petevotyan dedicated himself to his students and HIS beloved University.

The heritage of R. Petevotyan’s scientific and pedagogical activity is rich. He is the author of about 10 textbooks, scientific-methodological books and 81 scientific publications. Six dissertations have been defended under his supervision․ He used his deep professional knowledge in favor of the modernization of our country’s water systems. It was due to his professional consulting services, that foreign organizations managed to provide Yerevan and other large cities of the Republic with twenty-four-hour water supply.

He was an experienced teacher and a unique expert in drinking water treatment․ There was no water treatment plant in the country in the reconstruction of which he would not have participated․ He was demanding, rebellious, intolerant and caring.

R.A. Petevotyan’s bright memory will remain forever in the hearts of his relatives, friends, students, NUACA entire staff, and many specialists in the field of water supply and drainage.
