NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

“NUACA CUP 2023” blitz chess tournament has finished. Most of the 27 participants of the tournament were players with Chess categories and the struggle for medals was quite tense. A student of the Faculty of Construction Vardan Sargsyan (C 31-2) scored 6 points out of 7 possible and was declared the winner of “NUACA CUP 2023” tournament. The second place was taken by Artyom Poghosyan (E 31), while the third place by Vardan Bdoyan (A 21-2). A student of the Faculty of Management and Technology Anna Poghosyan (M 33-1) was declared the winner of the tournament among girls. Mary Tadevosyan (U 24), the winner of last year’s Cup, took the second place. Mary Sahakyan (A 31-1) and Ovsanna Khachatryan (A 31-2) shared the third and fourth places, respectively.

The event was organized by NUACA Department of Physical Culture. “Several first-class chess players entered the University this year, and the competition between them was worth the attention,” noted the organizer of the tournament, international female grandmaster Lilit Galoyan. She added: “I am pleased to see that students participate in our tournament enthusiastically. It is like a competition organized with international standards. Moreover, we are conducting the tournament draw using a program that adheres to these international standards. The prize winners of this year were awarded with medals and certificates, and the winners of the tournament, in addition to the Cup and medals, will receive a surprise gift personally from the Rector of the University Yeghiazar Vardanyan at the upcoming Session of the Rectorate.”
