The Italian Design Days was launched at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia with a large celebration and honorable guests. Italian Ambassador to Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco, Deputy Minister of Education and Scince of the Republic of Armenia Grisha Tamrazyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development Armen Ghularyan, a delegation of architects from Italy, President of the Union of Architects of Armenia Mkrtich Minasyan, professors, architects, designers and students of NUACA were present at the opening Ceremony.
Welcoming the attendees, the Rector of NUACA Gagik Galstyan first thanked the Italian Embassy in Armenia for celebrating the Italian Design Days for the third time in our university and for the continuous effective relationship. “We cooperate with the number of Italian art and architectural schools, implement a variety of educational and cultural programs and joint projects,” said the rector, adding that it is the greatest honor and pleasure to host the renowned Italian architects, allowing students to get acquainted with modern Italian design and architecture innovations.
Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco considered symbolic and extremely important for holding the design days, especially in our university, in his words, in the temple of the Armenian architecture. Speaking about the functions of modern architecture, the ambassador noted that it should be directed to the reproduction of life and should comply with the environment. In this context, he highlighted the exhibition of Italian architect’s projects entitled “Smart city” and the intended lectures within the framework of design days.
The importance of the event from the point of view of strengthening the Armenian-Italian cultural relations was emphasized by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development Armen Ghularyan and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Grisha Tamrazyan. The Deputy Minister mentioned that this is an additional opportunity for students to get acquainted with the world achievements in the field of architecture and design.
“We have a precedent when Armenian and Italian architects, together with students, rebuilt old Armenian churches,” – said Armen Ghularyan
The Italian architects also talked about their indescribable impressions received from Armenia, authored projects and forthcoming lectures.
