NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

University with a 100-Year History

EXTRACURRICULAR COURSE

Kristina Borisenko, lecturer at the Chair of Theory of Architecture, Restoration and Reconstruction of Historical-Architectural Heritage, Fine Arts and History has conducted the Architectural Design Principles course at the RA cultural places – at the Basilica Church (5th century) and Holy Mother of God Church (Astvatsatsin Church) (13th century) at the city of Yeghvard. The course combines theoretical and practical knowledge, providing the students with an opportunity to implement what they have learned in practice.

The participants got acquainted with the ornaments as well as made sketches and other drawings on the spot. As it was noted by K. Borisenko, it was not accidental that structures different in type had been chosen: basilica and tomb-like churches. The observations and discussions of their differences showed how much knowledge students have about the history of Armenian architecture.

Such extracurricular courses not only make the teaching process unique, but also make the student life interesting, strengthening love and devotion to the Homeland.
