CLOSING OF ICAHCA 2025 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: NEW PARTNERSHIPS AND EXPANDED COLLABORATIONS

The 3rd international conference entitled “Architectural Heritage and Contemporary Architecture” (ICAHCA) concluded with new achievements, important opportunities for collaboration, and a significant expansion of the international partnership network.

During the Conference, our former partnerships were rediscovered with particular importance and new areas of cooperation were formed. One of the notable achievements is that our University, which has been involved in the IACOBUS+ European program since 2018, has already received the status of a founding member. The three founding architectural schools of the Program are the School of Architecture of A Coruña, Spain, the Clermont-Ferrand School of Architecture, and the University of Regensburg, Germany.

The Management of the Clermont-Ferrand School has announced that our University will become a full member. The project manager, Mathilde Lavigne, will visit the University in the near future to make the appropriate amendments to the agreement. This is a major step for NUACA, which will enable the University to invite other international partners to participate in the Program.

An architect, partner, and speaker from Lebanon Ara Gevorgyan came up with an important initiative, proposing to hold the next conference in Beirut, involving the Beirut University of Architecture, the local professional community, and the Lebanese National Pact.

Our colleagues from the National Technical University of Athens also participated in the Conference, who delivered interesting presentations. As a result of the discussions, an agreement was reached to join the IACOBUS+ program team.

Vanya Wedeking, a German participant at the Conference and a specialist at the German Archaeological Institute who has extensive experience in excavations, restorations, and professional training in the Middle East, also agreed to visit Armenia again and conduct another workshop for restoration architects and specialists.

Participants of the Conference had the opportunity to visit the Mekhitarist Congregation in Vienna, to get acquainted with the museums, the church, and the Armenian architectural and cultural heritage in general.

This year, 48 reports were presented during the Conference, and the total number of participants was 80 from 11 countries: Armenia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Serbia, the USA, Lebanon, Greece, Australia, and Austria.

The 3rd ICAHCA International Conference not only strengthened existing partnerships, but also formed new cooperative ties that will greatly develop scientific, educational and cultural exchanges in the coming years. National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia continues its active role in international scientific platforms, constantly expanding its partnership framework and scientific potential.
