PANEL DISCUSSION ON “THE IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL STANDARDS” AT NUACA

Ahead of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, a panel discussion entitled “The Importance of National Standards” was held jointly with the RA Ministry of Environment, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which was attended by around 35 representatives of the professional community: lecturers, refrigeration and air conditioning specialists, experts, students, and post-graduate students.

Speakers at the Meeting were Head of NUACA Chair of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation Anna Karamyan, Deputy Director of National Body for Standards and Metrology Hayk Zeynalyan, and Specialist of the Type Approval Department of the same Body Lusine Khachatryab, Chairman of the Board of the Armenian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Engineers Artur Harutyunyan, as well as Senior Engineer of Zvartnots International Airport Sasha Mkrtchyan.

The opening ceremony started with the welcome speech of the National Coordinator for the Protection of the Ozone Layer Liana Ghahramanyan, where the goals and expectations of the meeting were discussed.

Head of NUACA Chair of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation Anna Karamyan,delivered a speech, attaching importance to the correct ratio of education and competence. “Education builds the foundation of competence, so it is important to develop the ability to apply knowledge in addition to transferring it. It is necessary to focus on mastery and continuously develop the skills,” noted Mrs. Karamyan.

The interactive discussion focused on the connection between the protection of the ozone layer and the standards, the efficiency of modern technological solutions implemented in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning as a result of the latter’s application, as well as the international experience of applying the presented standards.

The discussion was concluded with the emphasis that cooperation between all entities operating in the field should be raised to a new level, making it even more effective.

The events dedicated to the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer are carried out within the framework of the “Empowerment of the Institutional System and Capacity Building” project implemented by the Ministry of Environment jointly with UNIDO.
