WORLD TOURISM DAY IN GYUMRI

Within the framework of the World Tourism Day, first-year students of the “Service” specialty of the Faculty of Urban Economy and Ecology, accompanied by a lecturer at NUACA Chair of Environmental Management, Tourism and Service, PhD in Philological Sciences,  Associate Professor Zaruhi Hayryan visited Gyumri, one of the cultural cities of Armenia.

The students studied the tourist infrastructure of the city. They visited three symbolic museums: the Gallery of Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters, the House-Museums of Mher Mkrtchyan and Avetik Isahakyan. During the visit dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Isahakyan’s birth, the museum guide presented the features of the master’s lyric poetry, as well as interesting episodes from his life. The students also became participants in the cultural event, reciting works from the great writer.

During the excursion, they also visited the symbolic churches of Gyumri: St. Yot Verk, St. Nshan, and St. Amenaprkich.

The lecturer presented the methodology of conducting an excursion, paying attention to both the correct presentation of historical and cultural values, as well as the importance of communicating with the tourist group.

This visit became for the students not only a part of professional training, but also direct contact with Armenian culture, history, and spiritual heritage.
