TYARNENDARAJ – BLESSING DAY FOR NEWLY-WEDS

Every year on February 13, 40 days after Christmas, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Forty-Day-Old Baby Jesus to the Temple, Tyarnendaraj, also known as Trndez in folklore, celebrated by the Armenians for millennia.

Every year NUACA students organize an event with enthusiasm, preserving all the traditions related to the Feast. This year as well, NUACA Student Council organized an event, attended by students and University staff. In the backyard of the University, the students lit the fire, the symbol of the Feast, and the Student Council band came up with a musical performance, while those present danced around, jumping over the fire. Mary Ayvazyan, President of the Student Council Cultural Committee, presented the meaning of the Feast. The participants were treated to delicious dishes prepared by the students.
