University with a 100-Year History
Yesterday, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia hosted Arsen KARAPETYAN, a fellow of the Education USA programme sponsored by the US State Department. This programme is the part of a network of hundreds of education centers based in America implemented in collaboration with the US Embassy and American Councils in Armenia. The fellow shared his know-how with interested in the topic groups.
The next station of “We share” programme was at our University. Arsen KARAPETYAN was at our university to talk about the US urban development, accepted standards and the mechanisms regulating the sphere. The lecture entitled “The Urban Construction Regulations on the Example of the City of Chicago” was attended by the NUACA Dean of the Department of Architecture Sargis Tovmasyan, the Head of Urban Construction Chair Zara Mamyan and a group of students.
Arsen KARAPETYAN emphasized the role of the state in this issue by presenting the American model of urban development on the example of Chicago. He talked about design institutes at the universities and the Chicago City Council. According to him, it defines all urban construction standards required for the construction of any building.
The topic was interesting, the speaker was quite successful in his presentation as many questions were raised by the students and detailed answers were given by the speaker. Zealous discussion was held also about of the differences between our and Chicago’s urban construction.
