University with a 100-Year History
Recently, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia hosted the delegation led by Rector of Tabriz Islamic Art University of the Islamic Republic of Iran Doctor Sajjad Pakzad, which included Vice Rector for International Relations Farhad Akhoundi and Adviser to Rector Syed Kaweh.
The members of the Delegation, accompanied by NUACA Management, had a tour around the research laboratories and architectural studios of the University.
Then, a meeting was held, which was attended by Vice-Rectors, Chief of the Staff, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Heads of the Chairs, under the leadership of NUACA Acting Rector Manuk Barseghyan.
The main purpose of the Meeting was to expand the academic ties between the two universities, to create and implement a joint graduate programme with the awarding of diplomas of both universities in the field of Restoration of Architectural Heritage, as well as to implement short-term and long-term projects.
Apart from the main discussion, the working groups of the two universities prepared the Agreement to be signed.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mehdi Sobhani and representatives of the Embassy were present at the signing ceremony of the Agreement.
NUACA Acting Rector M. Barseghyan welcomed the guests and extended his gratitude to them for supporting such an important initiative. In his speech, Rector emphasized that the cooperation between NUACA and Tabriz Islamic Art University was established in 2021 within the framework of the “Sustainability for Architectural Heritage” (SAH) Project. It was mentioned that citizens of Iran have studied and are studying at NUACA, and start to work by their profession in Iran, Armenia and abroad after graduating. In this context, mutual recognition of graduation documents became extremely important.
Wrapping up his speech, Acting Rector Manuk Barseghyan extended his gratitude to the Ambassador and the friendly people of Iran for their caring attitude towards Armenian architecture and cultural heritage.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mehdi Sobhani also delivered a welcome speech, in which he highly appreciated the stable academic cooperation formed between the two universities and expressed his support for the establishment of the program, and mutual recognition of graduation documents issued in both countries. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of cooperation in the scientific and educational field, particularly mentioning its continuity in case of effectiveness. The Ambassador referred to the preservation of the Armenian historical-architectural heritage, which is in the center of constant attention of the Iranian government.
Rector of Tabriz Islamic Art University, Doctor Sajjad Pakzad also attached importance to the signing of the Agreement.
Rector of Tabriz Islamic Art University Sajjad Pakzad and NUACA Rector Manuk Barseghyan had a conversation through a video call with the Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Mejlis of Iran, during which they discussed the issues regarding the recognition of the diploma of our University.
In accordance with the program of the visit, the members of the delegation of Tabriz Islamic Art University of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts – Matenadaran, and “Garni” Historical-Cultural Museum-Reservation.
