PRAYER, RESOUNDING IN THE VOICE OF LUSINE ZAKARYAN, WILL HENCEFORTH BE HEARD FROM THE NEWLY OPENED HOUSE-MUSEUM

“A modest Armenian girl, endowed with extraordinary sensitivity, was one of those who brightened up a dull life with spiritual music.” Lyusine Zakaryan is an Armenian with a divine voice who brought Armenian Church music out of the walls of churches and made it popular, accessible to everyone.

Today, the heavenly voice of Lyusine Zakaryan sounded from the N3 apartment of Yerevan, on Yeznik Koghbatsi 42 Street, precisely from the apartment where the couple Lusine Zakaryan and Khoren Palyan once lived. The apartment, which has become a house-museum, is a dream that has become a reality, thanks to Khoren Palyan’s nephew: Raffi Palyan, and fans of the great art of the Zakaryan-Palyan couple.

Rector of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia Gagik Galstyan and head of the International Inter-University Department Arev Samuelyan among famous art historians and musicians were present at the opening ceremony of the House-Museum. “This is our Lucine … and our duty was to fully support the opening of the House-Museum …”, said the Rector Galstyan, who with great desire and love contributed to the restoration process of the museum. Much participation in the coordination of exhibiting, design of the museum and the collection of exhibits was provided by Arev Samuelyan.

Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, who was present at the opening ceremony, expressed hope that thanks to this museum, Lusine Zakaryan will become recognizable for the new generation and will not forget the name that once was on everyone’s lips.

Letters, personal items, photographs, documents … A small room filled with incredible memories, love and music which glorifying the Spirit of God, angels, and the whole world and heaven. As Raffi Palyan noted, this is a museum of not one family, but all Armenians ….
