PARTICIPATION IN THE III BETANCOURT INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING FORUM

On December 2, 2021, on the day of the 212th anniversary of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University, the opening ceremony of III Betancourt International Engineering Forum was held.

NUACA Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Garnik Stepanyan participated in the plenary session “Engineering Education in Industry 4.0: Trends and Prospects” within the framework of the III Betancourt International Engineering Forum in St. Petersburg.

Rector Y. Vardanyan made a welcoming speech, in which he particularly stated: “The invitation to participate in such a prestigious forum reinstates the close cooperation formed between our universities. Dear colleagues, engineering education nowadays implies deep fundamental knowledge, application of modern technologies and innovative approaches, command of economic analysis methodology, enterprise management skills, etc. I am confident that the III Betancourt International Engineering Forum will provide an opportunity to hold substantive discussions aimed at the development of “a road map” for further cooperation.”

During the session, Rector Y․ Vardanyan presented a report entitled “The Economic Component in NUACA Engineering Education”.

“We attach great importance to the development of international activities on a bilateral and multilateral basis. Thus, since 2018, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Center has been operating at NUACA, with the aim of creating an information platform, as well as organizing roundtable discussions, webinars, and conducting the competitions of the best startup projects designed by students and graduates of the University. Active work is being implemented aimed at training students of engineering specialties “Project Management” and “Project Management in the Field of Construction”; joint programs in transport education and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are being widely introduced in the curricula; active work is being implemented aimed at involving students and academic staff in the international mobility grant projects and programs”: stated Y. Vardanyan.

It should be noted that in June of this year, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University signed an agreement on “Cooperation in the Fields of Science and Education.” The III Betancourt International Engineering Forum is a crucial event to further develop the cooperation, as well as work and collaborate more actively in all directions of the field.
