I ALSO BECAME A DONOR

When half ampoule of blood can save lives.

As a result of the cooperation of the Student Council of NUACA and the “Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Charitable Trust” a number of students, professors and staff members took part in the “Be a Donor! Save One Life” initiative.

The doctor Mihran Nazaretyan presented the importance, necessity and the conditions of donated to the students: The doctor noted that the compatibility between the patient and the donor is essentially dependent on hereditary and ethnic characteristics, so it is more effective to look for a donor compatible with the same ethnic background. Because of inherent discrepancies, Armenian patients who are being diagnosed only for bone marrow transplant are dying because they do not have the appropriate donor. Therefore, it is crucial to have an Armenian registry of donors that will save the lives of leukemia and Armenian patients suffering from blood diseases.

Over 20 years of activity, many lives have been saved due to the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, a full member of the Bone Marrow Donor World Association and benevolent donors,

Even today, our university students are joining this humanitarian work, each of them with the same belief that someone in the world needs his own blood.

The head of the Student Council Armen Harutyunyan was the first, and then successively completed leaflets, stretched hands for giving blood and hopeful eyes: “I hope be compatible with at least one of the cancer patients”.
