University with a 100-Year History
At the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia the Scientific Council held its first session of 2021.
The session commenced with the Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan’s annual report, which summarized the work done in the previous year, decisions made at a difficult and turning point for the country, the ways of solving the problems the University is facing in the current situation, charitable programs and reforms to be implemented․
Within the framework of the reforms implemented in the educational process in 2020 the duration of all Master’s degree programs at NUACA has been reviewed, the way of organizing the educational process has been changed, new curricula have been developed, which were introduced in the 2020-2021 academic year. NUACA electronic platform for teaching and learning materials has been created and is constantly being supplemented and updated. Emphasizing the necessity to master foreign languages, starting from the 2020-2021 academic year, the teaching is conducted according to the formed groups of language proficiency levels, and, in order to increase its efficiency, foreign language courses for the first-year students of the University have been doubled. Compulsory additional classes in Mathematics, related to certain sections of the school course, have been added to fully support the University program.
One of the most important issues on the agenda was the increase in the salaries of NUACA academic staff. Despite the difficult socio-economic situation in the Republic of Armenia as a result of the consequences of the war and Coronavirus pandemic, Mr. Vardanyan highlighted one of the strategic priorities of the University, that is, the continuous increase in the salaries of the academic staff. The proposal was accepted unanimously and gained the power of decision.
Among the issues on the agenda of the Scientific Council were the discussion of qualification cases of the candidates for scientific degrees, the amount of Bachelor’s and Master’s tuition fees in the full-time paid system, the approval of dissertation topics and scientific supervisors, and other current issues.
