AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN PAID A VISIT TO NUACA

H.E. Dr. Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia paid a visit to National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia. At the beginning of the meeting, accompanied by NUACA Rector, Vice-Rectors, RA Honorary Painter Hrant Tadevosyan, architect Armen Minassian, the Ambassador took a tour around the University laboratories. The main purpose of the visit was the presentation of the scientific-educational and research activities of the University.

After the tour, NUACA Rector, Professor Yeghiazar Vardanyan greeted the guests, presented the cooperation agreements signed with the Department of Civil Engineering of Sharif University of Technology, the College of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran, the International Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, within the framework of which the implementation of joint academic programmes and scientific-research projects in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction are envisaged. It was highlighted that NUACA, being the only architectural-construction university in Armenia, is actively involved in crucial and large regional construction projects: research/ expertise are also carried out. The Rector proposed to establish close cooperation with the Iranian partners, actively involved in projects in the field of architecture and construction.

Professor Vardanyan emphasized the importance of the exchange of students and academic staff between NUACA and Iranian partner universities, implementation of joint academic programmes, graduation works and other joint events, as a result of which it is possible to achieve mutual recognition of diplomas awarded by the two countries. In his speech, Dr. Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri extended his gratitude for the invitation, noting that under current circumstances in the region, great importance is attached to the development of close ties in the fields of culture, education, science and the proper use of existing potential. The Ambassador emphasized that Iran is one of the leaders in the field of nanotechnologies in the world, and offered to cooperate in this field. The cooperation between universities and relevant organizations of the two countries in the field of road construction in the region was also highlighted.

Ambassador Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri expressed readiness to provide possible assistance within the framework of the mutual recognition of diplomas, and other issues.

Afterwards, Armen Minassian and Irina Vanyan presented detailed information about the University activities.

At the end of the meeting, the RA Honorary Painter Hrant Tadevosyan presented his newly published book to the Ambassador and invited him to the forthcoming exhibition of his works dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the University. The Ambassador also presented a symbolic gift to the University Rector, expressing his deepest gratitude for an important and productive meeting.
