University with a 100-Year History

A UN CENTER OF EXCELLENCE WILL BE ESTABLISHED AT NUACA 

At the invitation of the United Nations, the delegations of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and the RA Urban Development Committee went on a business trip to Geneva, Switzerland.

The Delegation of the University, led by Acting Rector Manuk Barseghyan, participated in the eighty-fifth session of the Committee on Urban Development, Housing, and Land Management of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The Committee expressed support for organizing the exchange of experience among countries in the areas of effective land management, climate-neutral buildings, and smart and sustainable cities. The agenda of the Meeting included the issue of establishing a UN Center of Excellence for Urban Development, Architecture, and Housing at NUACA under the coordination of UNECE.

NUACA Acting Rector Manuk Barseghyan delivered a speech and presented the achievements and opportunities of the University. Acting Head of the Chair of Production of Construction Materials, Items and Structures Avetik Arzumanyan also delivered a speech, presenting the educational-scientific and testing base of the University, as well as the vision for the establishment of the Center of Excellence and its operation.

Thus, for the first time in Armenia, a unique UN Center of Excellence will be established at NUACA.

In support of the Center being established in Armenia, several representatives from the eight Centers of Excellence operating worldwide responded positively in their speeches.

The Committee on Urban Development, Housing, and Land Management of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) unanimously approved the draft decision to establish the 9th Center of Excellence in the world.
