NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

University with a 100-Year History

A TRAINING COURSE HAS FINISHED WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE BIM DAYS

The BIM days at the University are over. The course was conducted by Jose Luis Vazquez Otero, lecturer at Universidade Laboral of Spain, who presented his activities and programs implemented in the field, adding that BIM specialists are divided into 4 levels: 1. coordinator, 2. specialist, 3. expert, 4. manager.

The general competence of this specialization course consists of developing and modeling graphical and non-graphical information of architectural and construction projects in its various dimensions with the help of BIM methodology. The collaboration throughout the implementation of the projects is based on respecting client requirements.

The expert is an engineer-designer by profession, and he started studying the BIM system in order to advance his professional career. He noted that for the application of BIM, it is necessary to master not only the technologies, but also to know how to implement modeling. According to the graph introduced by the latter, the least digitized sectors are construction and agriculture, and the most digitized is the energy sector. The graph demonstrated the relationship between disciplines and specializations in terms of the measurability of BIM application, and also presented the BIM platforms that are used in different countries. The expert emphasized that BIM implementation in Spain is carried out at the governmental level.

The expert conducted a lecture on the opportunities of developing landscape projects, the compatibility with construction projects, interior design, etc.. He demonstrated the necessary work streams for developing similar works, as well as examples of applications, such as Enscape. During the development of projects, the methodology of work in BIM environments was developed at a high level, just as the fundamental content necessary to understand the scope of the methodology was developed in each session.

Moreover, various meetings were held with representatives of different faculties to see the opportunities of introducing BIM methodology within the framework of the regulated training that is taught in each of them.

At the end of each meeting, an active professional discussion, as well as a summary of what they had learnt during that day were held.

At the end of the training, all participants were awarded with certificates and extended their gratitude to the expert as well as the University for giving them such an opportunity.
