EVENT DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF JIM TOROSYAN AT NUACA

An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous architect Jim Torosyan was held at National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

Rector of the University Manuk Barseghyan welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the name of the great architect is associated not only with the magnificent structures of Armenian architecture, but also with professional integrity and high values. According to him, the legacy left by Torosyan continues to live and influence today, becoming an important occasion for reassessment and inspiration for new generations. The Rector extended his gratitude to all the participants and wished them a productive process.

A solemn award ceremony was also held within the framework of the Event. For their contribution to architectural education, science and design, as well as to the preservation of the classical traditions of Armenian architecture Head of THHA Chair, PhD in Architecture, Professor Emma Harutyunyan, Professor ofADDAE Chair, Honorary Architect of the Republic of Armenia Aslan Mkhitaryan, and Head of UP Chair, PhD in Architecture, Professor Zaruhi Mamyan were awarded with the “Jim Torosyan” gold medal.

The University Chairs were also presented with books dedicated to the master’s work, which will serve as important educational and research sources, enabling students to study Torosyan’s creative legacy in depth.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Armen Shatvoryan noted that before the main event, a four-day workshop was organized with the participation of 10th-11th grade students of NUACA High School, the results of which were presented at the exhibition. It combined both the master’s sketches and the first works of young people, forming a unique dialogue between generations. At the end of the event, the students were awarded diplomas, and then a tour of the exhibitions took place.

The event brought together renowned representatives of the field, professors, students, and guests to appreciate Jim Torosyan’s creative legacy and its continuing influence on the development of Armenian architecture. It became not only a tribute to the great master, but also an important platform to inspire a new generation of professional dedication and creative thinking.
