NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

Publicist, architect, Doctor, Professor of Architecture,  Garnik Shakhkyan passed away. An architect whose projects were used to build different buildings of the republic, architectural historian that has educated many generations with the national descriptions and spirit of Armenian architecture, veritable intellectual who were worried about the new architecture of the Yerevan and the separate solutions of the old one.

Shakhkyan was the author of 15 books, more than 250 articles. He was one of the initiators of the “Hovhannes Tumanyan Encyclopedia”, who had planned to finish and publish it the 150th anniversary of the writer in 2019.

Garnik Shakhkyan’s funeral is on 30 November 2018, at the 3-11 Evoyan Alaverdi, and burial ceremony is the next day at the Shnogh cemetery.
