INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ENTITLED “ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE AND CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE”

The 3rd international conference entitled “Architectural Heritage and Contemporary Architecture” (ICAHCA) organized by National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, launched in Vienna.

The Conference was opened by Father Andreas Isakhanyan, spiritual pastor of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the St. Hripsime Armenian Apostolic Church in Austria, with his warm and symbolic welcoming speech: “Dear participants, I welcome your presence here. It is very symbolic that the Conference is taking place in the Armenian community of Vienna. The first architect was God, and He created the masterpiece of architecture, man, with His own hands. The rest was created by the mind. This reminds us that architecture requires thought, speech, and hand, which symbolize work.”

After Father Isakhanyan’s speech, the participants opened the Conference with a joint prayer, expressing communication, spiritual and professional unity.

On behalf of NUACA Rector Manuk Barseghyan, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Vardges Yedoyan delivered the welcoming speech .

“On behalf of the scientific community of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and myself, I warmly welcome you. Today, a new quality state policy has been formed in Armenia in the field of cultural heritage preservation, historical settlements and spatial planning. In this context, our University, as a leader, has its worthy place and mission: to train high-quality specialists such as architects-restorers, specialists in spatial planning and related fields.

“I particularly attach importance to the participation of young scientists in international conferences, symposia, scientific and professional research. This Conference also opens new horizons for the development of sectoral ties and strengthening cooperation, providing an opportunity to expand the geography of cooperation in the scientific research and academic fields,”  Rector Manuk Barseghyan noted in his speech.

Professor Mathilde La Vigneau from Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Dean of the Faculty of Architectural Design in Spain Cristóbal Crespo, and member of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, also delivered a welcoming speech at the Event.

The Conference is co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Armenia, the ICOMOS/Armenia National Committee, the Hovhannes Shiraz Armenian School in Vienna, the Armenian community, and the Mekhitarist Congregation.

The International Conference once again emphasizes the importance of Armenian architectural heritage, combines historical experience and modern approaches, and creates a platform for the effective exchange of knowledge, experience, and cooperation.
