The international competition “Pasta Builder”, which was held for the 15th time this year, ended at the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. 26 teams from different regions of Russia, as well as Armenia and Belarus, participated in the Competition.
National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia participated in the Competition with a student team from the Faculty of Construction, which took third place in the “Structure with the Largest Opening” category. The members of the winning team were Vladimir Safiridi, Movses Hakobyan, Gevorg Hyusisyan, Tigran Tevosyan, and Nikolay Harutyunyan.
The Competition is a unique platform for students to acquire practical skills in the fields of Construction Mechanics and Architecture, test their strength in design and construction thinking, as well as exchange knowledge and creative ideas.
Head of NUACA team, Head of the Chair of Roads and Bridges Artashes Sargsyan noted: “Such competitions are a form of education for students, when they build the structures they have designed with their own hands and see in practice how this structure works and why it collapses. It is very useful to see how structures work. The Competition encourages students to achieve new goals. Our team presented a railway bridge on the route from Dilijan to Vanadzor. This was the first experience, which we will try to take into account for future participation.”
The Competition is held in two categories: “The Tallest Structure” and “The Structure with the Largest Opening,” where not only the size of the structure, but also the expressiveness and efficiency of the use of materials are taken into account. For the first time in the jubilee year competition, the victory in both categories was taken by one team: Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov.
