NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ARMENIA

University with a 100-Year History

THE SESSION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WAS HELD

The Board of Trustees of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia started its work with the welcoming speech of the Chairperson of the Board, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Armen Ghularyan.

Mr. Ghularyan noted: “Every year, the University records new successes in both local and international arenas. In this context, I consider the re-recognition of our University architect diploma by the French Ministry of Culture as an important achievement. This is an assessment not only of the quality education provided by the University, but also of the University’s reputation as a reliable partner on international platforms. It is important that the result of delivering a high-standard academic programme is visible in practice during the implementation of urban planning projects. In particular, the involvement of the University in the development of the largest urban development project in the Republic, the academic city master plan, as well as a number of important urban development norms, which was launched by the RA government, proves the State’s trust in the University, which is a reason to be proud of.” Extending his gratitude to Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan for his professionalism and for leading the University to sustainable development, Mr. Ghularyan suggested moving on to the agenda matters.

After the approval of the agenda, before presenting the annual report, the Rector extended his gratitude to all the University staff for their dedication and hard work in the past year, and assured that without it the University would not have recorded the successes it has today.

The Rector presented the works implemented in 2023 and the budget performance, as well as the envisaged plans and budget for 2024. As in previous years, this year, the University’s budget estimate for next year exceeds the estimate of 2023. Mr. Vardanyan noted that work-based learning, introduction of new academic programmes and separate courses that are in demand in the labour market, revision of existing courses, trainings for lecturers, additional courses for students in various software packages and foreign languages have been particularly given importance in the field of education. About 180 lecturers and 220 students participated in various international programs. Referring to the scientific activity, the Rector noted that the University participated in 64 international scientific conferences, 46 review-contests, and 26 olympiads. 145 articles were published in scientific journals, 27 of which – in high-ranking international journals. New equipment was procured for scientific research, two innovations were formulated as inventions and received a patent as a result of the scientific work of the University’s academic staff. The Rector attached special importance to the “Scientific Research Center for the Road Transport Communication and Traffic Safety” to be opened in 2024. It will be operated jointly with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

Kristine Ghalechyan, member of the Board of Trustees, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, informed that in the passing year, quite effective work was carried out by the Ministry and the University, as a result of which important events were held.
