Arman Sargsyan, postgraduate student of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, safety engineer of “Road Department” Fund recently participated in the conference entitled “Road Safety in the Asia-Pacific Region” held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
The conference organized by the Asian Development Bank was attended mainly by representatives of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
During the conference a separate session was dedicated to motorcycle traffic safety, the annual indicators related to traffic safety of the participating countries were also discussed.
Arman Sargsyan, making a reference to the problems of motorcycle traffic, mentioned that although the problem under discussion is not seriously faced in our country, because motorcycles form a very small percentage of the transport fleet of Armenia, it was still interesting and instructive to hear about the experience of different countries within the context of ensuring the safety of the traffic of this means of transport. The newest protective measures used while driving a motorcycle were also presented.
A reference was made to the databases of road traffic accidents, the methods and criteria for compiling them, as well as information related to road safety in our country was presented.
