BALTRUSAITIS AWARD WAS GRATNED TO SHOGHER KHACHATRYAN 

The idea of ​​awarding prize on behalf of the famous Lithuanian historian, art critic Jurgis Baltrušaitis known for his armenophile activities was born during a friendly and warm meeting. Meanwhile, this idea was vitalized in a fast and decisive way. Thankful to the joint efforts of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Ericas Petrikas, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and “Petros Aloyan” Foundation the dedication and enthusiasm  of the students of the NUACA Department of Architecture  5 projects were submitted for the decision of the jury. The name of the winning student became known on August 28th. As a result of the competition, the prize of 1500 euros won Shogher Khachatryan. Today, in the presence of many guests and senior officials, Shogher has been awarded the certificate of the monetary prize she won. 

 The ceremony was attended by the NUACA Rector Gagik Galstyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to the Republic of Armenia Ericas Petrikas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Jonathan Lacote, the Rector of the French University in Armenia Jean-Marc Lavest, the general sponsor of the competition and the Director of “Petros Aloyan” Foundation Hayk Aloyan, the employees of the Lithuanian Embassy, the NUACA lecturers and students. 

 Greeting the attendees, Rector Galstyan firstly congratulated newly appointed French Ambassador and wished him fruitful work. Mentioning the centuries-old Armenian-French ties and the long-term cooperation between our University and the French schools of Architecture, Mr. Galstyan was hopeful for continuous cooperation. In response, Ambassador Lacote expressed his satisfaction for being in our country and attending such an important event for our University. The Ambassador noted that during a month of his service in Armenia he had already discovered that Armenia is a country of rich architectural, historical and cultural heritage.

 After the reciprocal greetings, Rector Galstyan briefly presented the activities of Jurgis Baltrušaitis for Armenians and Armenia, his works, then he passed on the word to Ambassador Erikas Petrikas. The Ambassador congratulated the winner, wishing her to always bear the artistic and patriotic spirit of Baltrušaitis.

 Rector Galstyan, Ambassador Petrikas and Director of  Petros Aloyan Foundation Hayk Aloyan signed the certificate and handed the prize to Shogher Khachatryan. In his congratulation missive Hayk Aloyan told that he will continue to be the general sponsor of Jurgis Baltrušaitis cometition during the next 5 years. The next prize will be the full reimbursement of the last year tuition fees of a student pursuing master degree studies and being selected as the winner of the prize.
