TACEESM Erasmus+ Project

Transforming Architectural and Civil Engineering Education towards a Sustainable Model (TACEESM )618883-EPP-1-2020-1-IT-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP

TACEESM aims to improve quality of higher education in partner countries in the field of architecture and civil engineering and enhance its relevance for the labour market needs and in accordance with European growth and development strategies

As a result of the project:

Each partner university (including the NUACA) should improve curricula for at least 2 architecture and civil engineering study programs (1 Bachelor and 1 Master) based on labor market needs analysis. Curricula should be updated with modernized  or completely new courses, the list of which is suggested by the project. Appropriate teaching materials, as well as teaching manuals will be developed.

NUACA will create new 6 courses listed below:

  1. BIM (Building Information Model) technologies (systems) – Bachelor – 4 credits
  2. Architectural projection of contemporary construction systems – Bachelor – 3 credits
  3. Territory Improvement and engineering development of area – Bachelor – 2 credits
  4. Sustainable architecture – Master – 2 credits
  5. Project management for architects – Master – 2 credits
  6. Contemporary methods of preservation of historical environment – Master – 4 credits

The duration of project is 36 months.

September 26-28, 2023

The Final Conference on the “Transformation of Architecture and Civil Engineering Education into a Sustainable Model” (Erasmus+ TACEESM) Project has been held, which was attended by the representatives of partner universities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, as well that of G. D’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy.

The participants of the Conference were hosted at NUACA. At the opening of the Session, Vice-Rector for International Relations Vardges Yedoyan, Vice-Rector of National Polytechnic University of Armenia Sargis Asatryants and Project Coordinator Lorenzo Pignatti (G. D’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy) delivered their welcome speeches.

4-7 September, 2023

The last project coordination meeting was held on September 4-7, 2023 within the “Transforming Architectural and Civil Engineering Education towards a Sustainable Model” Erasmus+ project (Erasmus+ TACEESM). The meeting was organized at the Maribor University (Slovenia). The NUACA project team coordinator Varazdat Hovhannisyan and project team members Armen Shatvoryan and Irina Vanyan took part in the meeting online. TACEESM project manager Lorenzo Pignatti (University G.D’ Annunzio (Ud’A), Italy) presented the agenda of the meeting, as well as the activities implemented within the frame of the of the project. The tasks related to the project technical and financial issues have been discussed by the participants of the meeting that have to be done until the end of the project (14 November, 2023).

 

June 27, 2023

The external quality audit of the NUACA activity was held on June 27, 2023 at the NUACA within the Erasmus+ TACEESM project. Two external EU experts visited the NUACA with the purpose to overview the activities that NUACA project team implemented during the period of the project. Ms. Irina Vanyan who is responsible for the quality assurance of the project has presented the activities that have been done within each work package of the project. Dean of Architecture faculty Mr. Armen Shatvoryan presented the curriculum of “Architecture” that was modernized within the TACEESM project by including 6 newly developed courses in Master and Bachelor degree levels. The lecturers of the NUACA (Ashot Mkhitaryan, Irina Vanyan, Nanar Kalantaryan, Elvira Hakobyan) have presented their courses structure, content, learning outcomes, teaching tools and methods. Angin Martirosyan, Anna Karamyan, Lusine Harutyunyan, Siranush Egnatosyan who is a member of the TACEESM project NUACA team took part in the meeting. They have answered to the auditors’ questions. The place where the BIM laboratory will be opened was visited by the auditors under NUACA TACEESM project coordinator Mr. Varazdat Hovhannisyan leading.

The External online Audit of the NUACA has been held for the Erasmus+ TACEESM Project on May 30, 2023. Four European External Auditors met the project leadership team, NUACA academic staff, NUACA administration team. Invited participants answered on numerous questions of Auditors.

 

25 May, 2023

The meeting with Employers in the field of Architecture took place at the NUACA on May 25, 2023. This meeting was initiated by Dean of Architecture Faculty Mr. Armen Shatvoryan within Erasmu+ TACEESM project. Architects from 17 Architecture studios took part at the meeting for discussion the ways of curriculum modernization in the specialty of “Architecture”.

 

25 April – 5 May, 2023

A working seminar on the topic “Meta-designing for Open Public Space of “Cascade” Area in Yerevan” was held at the NUACA on April 25- May 5, 2023, which has been implemented within Erasmus+ Transforming Architecture and Civil Engineering Education into a Sustainable Model (TACEESM) project funded by the European Union. The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Professors Filippo Angelucci and Andrea Di Cinzio of the Gabriele Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy. Upon successful completion of the workshop, students have received the certificates with the confirmation of 3 credits (ECTS) receiving.

February 28, 2023

On February 28 of the present year, an information day of Erasmus+ projects for internal and external stakeholders was held at NUACA. As a partner university of various consortia, NUACA currently implements five Erasmus+ projects. Head of NUACA Education Quality Assurance and Development Center Varazdat Hovhannisyan, presented the brief information on all the projects implemented by NUACA within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Armen Shatvoryan presented the main features, goals, objectives, expected outcomes, as well as current achievements of the “Transforming Architectural and Civil Engineering Education Towards a Sustainable Model” (Erasmus+ TACEESM) Project.

The speakers answered many questions of the event participants. The event was attended by NUACA Rector Yeghiazar Vardanyan, Vice-Rectors Robert Sukiasyan, Vardges Yedoyan, Manuk Barseghyan and Chief of the Staff Hovsep Hoveyan. NUACA Rector Y. Vardanyan extended his gratitude to all the attendees for participating in the event and for contributing to the Erasmus+ projects of NUACA.

 

January 16-20, 2023

A Workshop at the University of Maribor (Slovenia) within the Framework of the “Erasmus+ Taceesm” Project

On January 16-20, 2023, a regular workshop (5th in number) was held within the framework of the “Erasmus+ TACEESM” (Nօ 618883-EPP-1-2020-1-IT-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) Project at the University of Maribor (Slovenia), in which Dean of NUACA Faculty of Architecture Armen Shatvoryan took part. Representatives of other partner universities were also present at the workshop.

One of the key issues discussed during the workshop was the process of implementing joint programs/researches of partner universities and employer organizations/companies aimed at strengthening the “university-employer” connection within the framework of the Project. The organizational issues of holding a work seminar for students in the second semester of 2023 were also discussed. The representatives of the partner universities informed about the memorandums of cooperation signed with the employer organizations/enterprises within the framework of the

Project, as well as the results of testing the created/updated courses. Mr. Shatvoryan delivered a report, presenting the works carried out by NUACA team of the TACEESM Project in the mentioned directions (the report is attached). Mr. Shatvoryan particularly stated that 6 new courses have been developed within the framework of the TACEESM Project (3 undergraduate and 3 graduate courses). Two of these courses (“BIM Technologies” and “Sustainable Architecture”) were implemented in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The participants of the workshop presented their recommendations regarding the agenda of the webinar scheduled for June of the present year. The tasks of the TACEESM Project for 2023 were outlined.

 

November 9-10, 2022

On November 9-10 of the present year, the regular 5th session of the Governance Board of the “Erasmus+ TACEESM” Project was held at the International Burch University (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina). The participants of the session discussed the issues related to the works carried out within each of the seven packages provided by the Project and to be carried out in the near future. The coordinator of the TACEESM Project V. Hovhannisyan and I. Vanyan, who is responsible for the quality of the Project, participated in the session online.

 

May 4-5, 2022

On May 4-5 of the present year, a regular session of the Governance Board of the Erasmus+ TACEESM Project was held in a hybrid format (online and offline), where a number of issues related to the Project were presented and discussed (the agenda is attached). Head of NUACA TACEESM Project V. Hovhannisyan and I. Vanyan, who is responsible for the quality assurance, participated in the meeting online. I. Vanyan presented NUACA report on quality control within the framework of the Project.

 

April 18-23, 2022

On April 18-23 of the present year, within the framework of the WP4 work package of the “TACEESM Erasmus +” Project, a workshop entitled “University-Enterprise Collaboration” was held in Malaga, Spain, which was organized in a hybrid format. From Armenia, the workshop was attended by NUACA staff members V. Hovhannisyan, A. Shatvoryan, representatives of the

Chamber of Architects of Armenia and National Polytechnic University of Armenia. NUACA staff members I. Vanyan, A. Mkhitaryan and Zh. Hakobyan participated in the workshop remotely. The workshop was kicked off with a report on the work implemented by partners over the past year within the framework of the “TACEESM” Project. Afterwards, the upcoming activities of the current year were discussed, in particular, the issues of deepening and expanding the University-enterprise collaboration. The workshop touched upon issues related to collaboration between partner universities and industry, and the expansion of common databases; issues related to the preparation of internship programs by partner universities and the organization of those internships; issues related to the possibility of implementing joint projects between partner universities and industrial design companies.

NUACA Project team participants presented their reports, suggestions and observations on the above issues.

 

February 28, 2022

On February 28 of the present year, an information day of Erasmus+ projects for internal and external stakeholders was held at NUACA. As a partner university of various consortia, NUACA currently implements five Erasmus+ projects.

Mr. A. Shatvoryan answered many questions of the participants. The event was attended by NUACA Management represented by the Rector Y. Vardanyan. The Vice-Rector for International Relations Vardges Yedoyan highlighted the importance of the “Erasmus+” projects for NUACA development and the modernization of its academic programmes. NUACA Rector Y. Vardanyan extended his gratitude to all the attendees for participating in the event and for contributing to the Erasmus+ projects of NUACA. VISIT OF THE REPRESENTATIVES OF EUROPEAN PARTNER UNIVERSITIES TO NUACA WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF “ERASMUS + TACEESM” PROJECT

On January 25, 2022 a four-day workshop launched within the framework of the WP3 work package of Erasmus+ TACEESM project. It was organized by the National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) with the participation of representatives of the project partner universities (online and offline). Ten representatives of European partner institutions from different countries arrived in Yerevan to participate in the workshop, in particular from Bosnia and Herzegovina (International Burch University (IBU), Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar (UNMO), CUBE Design d.o.o.), Spain (University of Malaga (UM)) and Slovenia (University of Maribor (UM)).

On January 27, 2022, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia hosted the delegation of the Consortium within the framework of the project. NUACA Vice-Rector for International Relations V. Yedoyan, Vice-Rector for Educational Reforms G. Stepanyan, and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture A. Shatvoryan warmly welcomed the guests, wishing them fruitful activities during the workshop. Mr. Yedoyan assured that the implementation of the Erasmus+ project “Transforming Architecture and Civil Engineering Education towards a Sustainable Model” (TACEESM), in accordance with modern European standards and labour market requirements, will contribute to the significant update of NUACA study programs of Architecture and Construction. Mr. Shatvoryan emphasized the importance of this project for the Faculty of Architecture. The meeting was also attended by lecturers Nanar Kalantaryan, Elvira Hakobyan, Armen Minassian, Tigran Khachiyan, and Ashot Mkhitaryan, who developed the syllabi of the new courses within the framework of the project. Lusine Harutyunyan, the person responsible for dissemination of information, briefly touched upon her functions within the framework of the project, while Irina Vanyan presented the functions of the other members of NUACA team in the TACEESM project: Angin Martirosyan, Madlena Igitkhanyan, Siranush Hovhannisyan and Tatev Barkhoyan.

The participants of the meeting were shown a video film about NUACA. Irina Vanyan, Member of the Quality Assurance Board of TACEESM project, briefly provided information on the history, management, students, academic staff, double degree academic programmes, international cooperation and membership of NUACA, as well as student life before and during the pandemic.

At the end of the meeting, the foreign guests were presented with Armenian handmade dolls. A short tour was conducted for the guests to discover the educational environment of NUACA. During the short tour, the guests were shown the University laboratories, studios and auditoriums.

Third Workshop of Erasmus+ TACEESM Project

The 4-day Workshop launched within WP3 work package of Erasmus+ TACEESM project. It is organized by National Polytechnic University of Armenia, ensuring online and offline participation of the representatives of Project partner universities. Ten representatives of partner universities arrived in Yerevan and were hosted by Armenian partner universities.

Online Meeting: Launch of WP4 Work Package

The online meeting regarding the launch of WP4 work package was held on January 14, 2022 within the framework of TACEESM Erasmus+ project. NUACA Project team members, as well as the representative of the Chamber of Architects of Armenia Mr. Sarhat Petrosyan took part in the online meeting and presented their suggestions for the implementation of activities planned within the framework of WP4. Irina Vanyan from NUACA, as the representatives of other partner universities, presented the main outcomes of WP1 work package with the aim of promoting the implementation of the activities of WP4.

Four-Day Online Workshop on “Faculty Capacity Building”

The four-day online Workshop regarding faculty capacity building launched on the 16th of November, 2021 within the framework of Erasmus+ TACEESM project. The representatives of partner universities took part in the Workshop. The representatives of Maribor University (Slovenia) shared their experience in teaching and learning methods in the field of Architecture.

Steering Committee Meeting in Malaga (Spain)

The third Steering Committee meeting in a combined format (offline and online) was held within the framework of Erasmus+ TACEESM project on the 9th-11th of November, 2021. The issues regarding the achievements of the first year, as well as the next steps of the Project, were discussed during the meeting. Varazdat Hovhannisyan, NUACA coordinator of TACEESM project, took part in the offline meeting in Malaga. He presented the “Building Information Modelling Technology” new Master’s study programme, which is still under development by NUACA team within the framework of TACEESM project.

Online Workshop Dedicated to “Erasmus+ Information Days” International Event

Every year, NUACA celebrates “Erasmus+ Information Days” international event with a different approach. This year, on the 15th of October, an online Workshop was held with the participation of the  representatives of partner universities from Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus and Armenia. During the Workshop, the participants presented one of the key outcomes of “Transforming Architecture and Civil Engineering Education into a Sustainable Model” (TACEESM) Erasmus+ project, i.e. the development of the envisaged courses.

TACEESM Erasmus+ Project Online Monitoring-Meeting

The TACEESM Erasmus+ project online monitoring-meeting was initiated by the Erasmus+ Office in Armenia on the 28th of September, 2021. Irina Vanyan, who is responsible for the internal quality assurance of the Project within NUACA, presented the progress and achievements of the Project. NUACA Project staff members answered many questions asked by Lana Karlova and Ani Torosyan, representatives of Erasmus+ Office in Armenia.
